We therefore advise you to leave your car in the parking lot and put on good walking shoes. 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Admire the Puente Nuevo<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll naturally begin your journey with the city&#8217;s star attraction: the <a href=\"https:\/\/andalucialovers.com\/en\/visit-puente-nuevo-ronda\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"2511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Puente Nuevo.<\/a> Built in the 18th century, this majestic bridge with its many arches has become the city&#8217;s symbol. Overlooking the breathtaking Guadalev\u00edn Gorge, the bridge links the old medina with the new town.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Best-of\/i-ZkRS2rd\/0\/DwGQZJhxqn5VW3NrdV34rtTTKxbxhVxm3hr8TmZkD\/L\/museum-casa-don-bosco-ronda-07-L.jpg\" alt=\"View from Casa Don Bosco\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Puente Nuevo de Robda as seen from the Casa Don Bosco Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we walked along it, we were captivated by the view of the town of Ronda below and the surrounding countryside. You can then admire its silhouette from afar by visiting one of the town&#8217;s museums. <a href=\"https:\/\/andalucialovers.com\/en\/visit-museum-casa-don-bosco-ronda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Casa Museo Don Bosco<\/a>, in particular, offers a fine panorama of the bridge and the volute rocks, while <a href=\"https:\/\/andalucialovers.com\/en\/visit-casa-del-rey-moro-ronda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Casa del Rey Moro<\/a> offers a superb low-angle view of the chasm.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Visit the Palacio de Mondragon<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For our part, we chose to visit the Palacio de Mondragon, an ancient palace combining well-preserved Moorish and Renaissance architectural elements. We loved the contemplative atmosphere, not to mention the charm of the Andalusian garden and its breathtaking view of the picturesque surroundings of Ronda!<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Mondragon-Palace\/i-MrJKLkq\/0\/CLSqG5b4nRV3GSnXrXpjk5d5CJ44bLTk2vD8TV7kp\/L\/visit-palacio-mondragon-ronda-01-L.jpg\" alt=\"Mondragon Region&#10;\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also visit the Municipal Museum, with its rich collection of archaeological artefacts, recounting the history of Andalucia from prehistoric times to the modern era.  <a href=\"https:\/\/andalucialovers.com\/en\/visit-museum-palacio-of-mondragon-ronda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Find out more in our dedicated article.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 12pm-1pm: Lunch on the go<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For lunch, we suggest an alternative to the often crowded tourist restaurants. We recommend buying a tasty <em>bocadillo<\/em> (sandwich) to take away and eating it in one of the pretty squares of the old medina (walled city).<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Restaurants\/i-jhJSSrN\/0\/Fbmk3TcvfNtRvSNgTQRCBb5bqKqfHFmCzxTLCbczT\/L\/restaurant-tabanco-los-arcos-ronda-city-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Lunch in Ronda\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For our part, we fell in love with the magnificent Plaza de Mar\u00eda Auxiliadora, full of authenticity and charm. You can take a seat on one of the shady benches, admire its pretty fountain and, if you&#8217;re lucky, even enjoy a musical lunch, as artists often pass through here on sunny days.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 2pm-3pm: Admire Puente Nuevo from below<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you&#8217;ve finished your meal, we suggest a digestive walk! Take the cobbled staircase winding along the Mar\u00eda Auxiliadora church to the <strong>Mirador del Viento<\/strong>. This site offers breathtaking views of the famous Ronda bridge and the Guadalev\u00edn Gorge. This magnificent low-angle view is worth the short walk!<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Best-of\/i-vTrmzJL\/0\/D75vz9ZdbrKs8FvKNKJ6vHhdKzktkVPSRfNp2xrNF\/L\/visit-ronda-city-6-L.jpg\" alt=\"Bridge seen from below\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allow 15 minutes to descend to the viewpoint, and just as long to climb back up, if you have good shoes. You can also choose to come at the end of the day, to admire the last rays of the setting sun reflected on the ochre stone.<br\/>Be careful not to confuse this viewpoint with the &#8220;Mirador del Puente Nuevo&#8221;, which is located just before it, but for which a fee is charged.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 3:30 &#8211; 4:30 pm: Visit the Arab baths<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you&#8217;ve returned to your starting point, at the Plaza de Mar\u00eda Auxiliadora, you can then walk through the old town (10min walk), towards the Arab baths! Dating back to the 13th century, they are among the best-preserved in Spain, with their vaulted rooms, intimate alcoves, and brick columns.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Andalucia\/14d-Ronda-arab-baths\/i-TRrBfp8\/2\/BSMJCvp9s3WvPgfX3npxZDSQ6df6J6Pq8Bk8fFwp\/L\/Arab_Baths_Ronda_Andalucia_Spain-7750-L.jpg\" alt=\"Arabic Baths\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purifying the body at the baths was a prerequisite for entering the adjacent mosque, and we especially enjoyed the video showing how the baths operated in the past.  <a href=\"https:\/\/andalucialovers.com\/en\/arab-baths-ronda-visit-photos\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1666\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See more photos in our dedicated article.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 4:30-5pm: Taking a snack break<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the day isn&#8217;t over yet, we recommend that you recharge your batteries with a sweet break at Confiter\u00eda El Tajo. Behind the window of this unassuming little shop, the local specialties immediately made our mouths water.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Best-of\/i-LWjMHqD\/0\/PQNFRF9Q2RsnkJ5wGDtHNff8FGphznTPmbLHgqHm\/L\/confiteria-el-tajo-ronda-city-L.jpg\" alt=\"Pastry Shop in Ronda\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll find <em>yemas de ronda<\/em>, these delicately caramelized milk eggs, <em>polvorones<\/em>, these addictive little crumbly almond cakes, and other more classic sweets such as doughnuts and ice creams. One thing&#8217;s for sure: you&#8217;ll thank us for this address, ideal for a gourmet stopover between two visits!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 5pm-7pm: Wander the narrow streets of the medina<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beautifully preserved, the old medina (walled city) district is called <em>La Ciudad <\/em>, and its peaceful atmosphere is enchanting. A legacy of Moorish domination (18th &#8211; 15th centuries), the medina was built to protect the territories of Al-Andalus, Ronda being particularly strategic due to its position on a rocky plateau that facilitated defense. We were charmed by the scenery of ancient fountains, hidden patios, whitewashed houses and lively little caf\u00e9s in the maze of alleyways.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Andalucia-Lovers\/Ronda\/Best-of\/i-3LMSDvL\/0\/5rWW32chwB6c6HskkxNzXgbgrjZtkcBr5r5spJtd\/L\/ronda-city-streets-spain-L.jpg\" alt=\"Medina de Ronda\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 &#8211; 8-9 p.m.: End on a high note with tapas<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a day of cultural discoveries, there&#8217;s nothing quite like ending on a gourmet note. Let yourself be tempted by a tapas evening, where you can munch on delicious morsels while sipping a local nectar.
