Violent crime is rare, especially against tourists. As in all popular tourist destinations, petty crime such as pickpocketing and scams can occur, especially in busy areas. The risk of dehydration and heat stroke is real. We have experienced these scorching days in Sevilla and strongly recommend limiting outdoor activities between 12pm and 5pm during this period.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The region can also experience periods of intense rainfall, especially in autumn, which can cause localized flooding. These activities involve the usual mountain risks. Trails can be steep and slippery, particularly after rain (and especially on the rocks of el Torcal). We recommend setting off early in the morning, carrying enough water (at least 2 liters per person for a 4-hour hike) and wearing a hat and sunscreen. The intensity of UV radiation can be very high, even outside the summer months. We learned the hard way that you should never underestimate the Andalusian sun, even on cloudy days or in winter. The main roads are well maintained and clearly signposted. In big cities like Sevilla or Malaga, traffic can be dense and a little chaotic at rush hour.
