It is about a 2-hour-and-45-minute drive west of Sevilla, 1 hour and 30 minutes south of M\u00e1laga, and 2 hours northwest of C\u00f3rdoba. Its high elevation gives it a climate that differs from that of other major cities in Andalucia: winters are colder there, and the Sierra Nevada remains snow-covered for much of the year.<\/p>\n\n Here are the travel times from the major cities:<\/p>\n\n See our tips<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Granada has its own airport, but direct flights from Europe are rare. Depending on your departure city, it may be more convenient to fly through M\u00e1laga or Sevilla, whose airports are much better connected.<\/p>\n\n The Granada Airport is named after the Andalusian poet and playwright Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca, who was born in the region. It is located 17 km from downtown, which is about a 20-minute drive. Its routes mainly serve domestic destinations (Madrid, Barcelona) and a few very limited seasonal European flights. We recommend that you check availability directly based on your travel dates, as availability varies significantly from season to season. Compare available flights.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n From the terminal, there are several options for getting to downtown Granada: rental car, taxi, or private transfer. View available transfers from Granada Airport<\/a><\/p>\n\n Malaga Airport is by far the best-connected option from Europe. It is about a 1.5-hour drive from Granada via the A-92. From the terminal, a rental car is the most direct way to get to Granada: international rental<\/a> agencies have counters in the arrivals area, and the drive on the highway is straightforward. We recommend this option to travelers who want to combine a visit to Granada with other destinations in Andalucia during a road trip.<\/p>\n\n If your best available flight is to Sevilla, it’s entirely possible to get to Granada from there: allow about 2 hours and 45 minutes by car on the A-92. This option is a good choice if you plan to visit Sevilla first and then continue on to Granada by rental car<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n All the information you need for your trip:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n The train is a comfortable way to travel to Granada from major Spanish cities. The Granada train station is about a 15-minute walk from the historic center.
