Want to escape the hustle and bustle of Malaga? The charming Pedregalejo beach, a little out of the way to the east of Malaga and generally not very busy, is ideal.
Located in the Pedregalejo district, a former fishing village, this beach retains its authentic charm, while offering an ideal setting for swimmers with its fine sand and protected coves.
Here are our useful tips for planning your visit to Pedregalejo Beach in Malaga.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We made our own choices, visited the area anonymously, and paid our bills in full.
Is Pedregalejo Beach worth it?
Yes, it’s a beautiful beach that deserves a visit for both its bucolic setting and its history. In fact, Pedregalejo Beach is an old fishermen’s haunt and retains a peaceful charm from that era.
One of the must-do experiences on this beach is to try espetos, grilled sardine skewers! After your meal, take a stroll down Calle Pepote to see the charming, low, colorful fishermen’s houses.
Still untouched by construction, we consider it one of Málaga’s most beautiful beaches, and even one of the city’s main attractions on sunny days.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of fine, dark-blond sand.
Even if it has a few rough spots (shells, coral, pebbles), it’s a great place to lounge!

Swimming conditions and supervision
We didn’t notice any difficulty in swimming at this beach, as the slope is gentle and the Mediterranean sea remains fairly calm.
Signs indicate that the beach is supervised between 10am and 8pm in high season and between 11am and 7pm in low season.
Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach. However, given Spain’s water shortage, most showers are inaccessible.
Don’t forget water and head protection, as palm trees are a popular place to take shelter from the sun!
