Where to stay in Cordoba: best districts
Why stay in Cordoba?
Cordoba is our favourite city in Andalucia, and for good reason! This thousand-year-old city offers a journey back in time through its picturesque streets and emblematic monuments. We’re sure you’ll be charmed by its unique ambience, blending Hispano-Moorish heritage with Andalucia traditions.
That’s why we’ve carefully selected hotels located in or near the heart of the city. So you can easily explore the main sites of interest on foot, without wasting time on transport. Cordoba’s compactness is one of its major assets: in just a few minutes’ walk, you can go from the majestic Mezquita-Cathedral to the flower-filled patios of the Judería.

If you’re coming by car, we strongly advise you to park it on arrival and immerse yourself in the city on foot. You’ll discover Cordoba’s hidden charms, its shady squares and authentic taverns, while enjoying the enchanting atmosphere of its streets.
Cordoba is one of the most popular cities to stay in Andalucia!
Cordoba’s best places to stay: map
Here’s our map to help you get your bearings, with the main areas to stay in Cordoba:

Staying in the historic Juderìa district

La Judería, Cordoba’s ancient Jewish quarter, is the city’s historic and tourist heart. We loved its narrow, winding streets, flower-filled patios and whitewashed houses. The atmosphere is spellbinding. This is where the main monuments are located, including the famous Mezquita-Cathedral. Not sure whether to stay? Here are a few key points:
Benefits:
- Close to major tourist attractions
- Authentic, picturesque atmosphere
- Wide choice of restaurants, tapas bars and boutiques
- Easy to explore the city on foot
Disadvantages:
- Very busy area, especially in high season
- Generally higher accommodation prices
- Streets sometimes noisy in the evening
- Limited access by car and difficult parking
Our favorite hotels: Hotel Las Casas de la Judería,Hotel Balcón de Córdoba andHotel Madinat
Staying in the Santa Marina district

Santa Marina is a historic district north of the city center. You’ll be charmed by its authentic atmosphere and rich culture. This part of the city is famous for its fernandine churches, notably the church of Santa Marina de Aguas Santas. The neighborhood’s lively squares offer ideal meeting places for observing local life and perhaps even chatting with the locals. We particularly recommend a visit to Santa Marina if you’re interested in bullfighting, as it’s the birthplace of this tradition in Cordoba. Not sure whether to stay? Here are a few key points:
Advantages:
- A calmer, more authentic atmosphere
- More affordable accommodation
- Opportunity to discover local life
- Close to bars and restaurants frequented by local residents
Disadvantages:
- Further from the main tourist attractions (15-20 min walk)
- Less evening entertainment
- More limited range of accommodation
Our favorite hotels: Hotel Hospes Palacio del Bailio andHotel Soho Boutique Córdoba
Staying in the San Pedro district

San Pedro is a lively district to the east of the historic center. It offers a good balance between local atmosphere and easy access to tourist sites. The area is renowned for its tapas bars and nightlife. We loved the squares that punctuate its narrow streets, especially the Plaza de la Corredera. Not sure whether to stay? Here are a few key points:
Benefits:
- A good compromise between authenticity and proximity to the center
- Numerous tapas bars and popular restaurants
- Lively evening atmosphere
- Accommodation prices generally more moderate than in the center of town or in the Juderìa district
Disadvantages:
- Can be noisy at night, especially at weekends
- Slightly off the main monuments (10-15min walk)
- Less historical charm than Judería
- Parking can be tricky
Our favorite hotel: Aparthotel Alhajas de Córdoba
Other useful tips to keep in mind
- Andalucia is a popular destination. Although the peak season is spring and summer, the temperate Mediterranean climate is ideal for year-round visits. A destination with year-round sunshine and very few rainy days means crowds, and therefore anticipation! Remember to book your accommodation as early as possible, as Cordoba is a very popular city.
- This is particularly true during Semana Santa (the week of religious processions through the city leading up to Easter) and the Feria de Córdoba (more info here). During these world-famous festivities, prices soar and crowds are huge.

- Please note that the criteria for awarding stars to hotels vary from country to country. Most tourist accommodation is in traditional buildings. Pools are therefore generally on the roof and are more for cooling off than for swimming.
- Within the city, you can use public transport to get around if you don’t want to drive into town. In fact, the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus offers a circuit that serves many of Cordoba’s tourist districts. Remember to reserve your ticket in advance. You can also rent a car if you’d like to explore Cordoba’s surroundings on your own.

RENT A CAR IN Andalucia
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a compact car, as some villages have very narrow streets!
- Think ofcomprehensive insurance for the same reason
- Book early for choice.
