Where to stay in Almería: best districts
Why stay in Almería?
Away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist trade, Almería has plenty to surprise visitors with its rich historical heritage and lively center. You’d almost think you were in a city in the Maghreb, such are the oriental influences still present.
In addition to its authentic ambience, the town offers an ideal base for exploring the region, between azure sea and desert landscape. Read our article on the subject!

Staying in Almería
While the city’s remarkable heritage can be visited in just 1 day, and doesn’t necessarily merit an overnight stay, you’ll find pleasant accommodation if you want to take your time here.
There are two main zones for your stay:
- The historic center, with its picturesque streets and emblematic monuments such as the Alcazaba and the Cathedral of theIncarnation, is the beating heart of the city. The atmosphere is lively both day and night, thanks to the many shops and restaurants. By choosing this neighborhood, you can limit your travels while taking full advantage of the cultural experience the city has to offer.

- The seaside district that stretches along the beaches of Zapillo and San Miguel, just a stone’s throw from the center. More residential, it concentrates the majority of rental apartments. Although Almería’s beaches are less remarkable than others in Andalucia, this area may be suitable if you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. It remains within reasonable distance of the main sites of interest, but please note that the restaurant offer is very limited.

Other useful tips to keep in mind
- Almería is first and foremost a stopover town, whose tourist infrastructure can sometimes be limited. To make the most of your stay, we suggest you opt for a heritage-focused experience. Opt for accommodation in the city center, ideal for keeping travel to a minimum and for easy access to the city’s best restaurants.
- Please note that the criteria for awarding stars to hotels vary from country to country.
- Parking can be tricky in Almería’s historic center. If you come by car, choose accommodation with parking.
RENT A CAR IN Andalucia

- Choose a compact car, as some villages have very narrow streets!
