How to get to Ronda: quick answer

To get to Ronda, you can:

Option 1: come by car
For us, it’s the easiest and best way to enjoy the region!
In fact, Ronda is well worth a visit, as it offers many sites to discover.

Option 2: come by public transport
The nearest airport is Malaga. From there, you can opt for the train (3h with a change at Antequera) or the coach (2h direct), as the town has both a bus and a train station.

Option 3: Join organized tours
This is a practical option if you want to combine the discovery of several places, departing from Malaga or Sevilla. Book your tickets now!

How to get to Ronda by car: parking

We think this is the easiest and most pleasant way to get to Ronda.
Too often confined to a single day’s excursion, the city and its surroundings are full of surprises that we invite you to discover over several days.
See our itinerary ideas in our dedicated article.
What’s more, renting a car will give you more freedom to explore the region and enjoy the magnificent roads that wind through the mountains of Andalucia.

Finally, even though Ronda is located on a rocky outcrop, the journey is very easy.
Please note, however, that parking in the city center is limited, so we advise you to use the commercial parking lots. The Martinez Astein parking lot, the El Castillo parking lot or the station parking lot (Parking Renfe) are some of the best options.

Ronda by bus

It’s the most economical option! A very good bus network with very affordable fares (entrance fee €10) links Ronda to the major cities of Andalucia:

  • Sevilla = 2 hours (direct route)
  • Cordoba = 2 hours (direct route)
  • Malaga = 1h45 (direct route)

If you’re in high season, we recommend you book your tickets online by visiting the official website here.
Alternatively, you can book tickets directly at the alsa kiosks in the station (see photo below).

Ronda by train

There’s a train station in Ronda, but it’s not as well served as the bus station. However, you will find some connections departing from:

  • Malaga: the journey takes 3 hours (with a change at Antequera).
  • Sevilla: journey takes 4 to 5 hours (with a change at Antequera).
  • Cordoba: the journey takes 2 hours (with a change at Antequera).

Please note that these connections are not daily, and that fares and connections vary according to the time of day (more info on the official renfe website here).

Getting to Ronda from Malaga or Sevilla: bus or car

Sevilla and Malaga are the 2 nearest major cities that connect Ronda to the road and rail network.

  • From Malaga, the bus journey takes around 2 hours and costs between €10 and €18, with several departures daily. By car, the journey is quicker, taking around 1h30, but involves fuel and potentially parking costs.
  • From Sevilla, the bus journey to Malaga takes around 2 hours 45 minutes and costs between €12 and €25, with around ten daily departures, while by car, the journey takes 1 hour 45 minutes.

Your choice will therefore depend on your preferences in terms of cost, travel time and flexibility. Note that the roads between Andalucia’s cities are absolutely sublime!

For greater flexibility in exploring the Ronda region, we strongly advise you to book a car. We recommend the DiscoverCars platform and you’ll soon be able to read our article on driving in Andalucia.
