Our first favorite spot of the trip is undoubtedly the Boutique Hotel Luna Granada Centro, an oasis of modernity in the heart of Granada. With its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and contemporary decor in pastel colors, you’re sure to love this soothing spot right in the heart of downtown—just like we do. In the common lounge, we enjoyed unlimited hot drinks. Then head up to the rooftop to cool off in the small outdoor pool. Not to mention the unique view of the city’s rooftops! Best luxury hotel: Hotel Corrala del Realejo
Does a night at a 5-star hotel with rustic and Rococo decor in a popular neighborhood of Granada sound appealing to you? The Corrala del Realejo Hotel left us with wonderful memories. A modern apartment, a fully equipped kitchen, accommodations with a view of the city, attention to detail, a gourmet breakfast… The property has many highlights. Being able to enjoy the space of an apartment while also benefiting from hotel-style service is a real advantage when on vacation. Granada is a charming city nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s a lively place, bustling with activity all year round thanks to its many events. You probably know it for its one-of-a-kind Alhambra. But you should know that it also holds other treasures, including magnificent religious buildings and cave dwellings that we absolutely loved visiting! There are so many reasons to want to stay here and spend at least one unforgettable night, allowing you to (re)immerse yourself in the rich history of this Andalucian city. It’s also one of the most popular places to stay in Andalucia!

Staying downtown
We really enjoyed walking around the historic center of Granada. In addition to its many points of interest (the Royal Chapel, the Madraza Palace, and the Cathedral of the Incarnation), its narrow streets are home to a multitude of shops, particularly independent ones. As you stroll around, you’ll come across some pleasant squares, first and foremost the Plaza Bib-Rambla. The square is surrounded by restaurants and bars with shady terraces. Next to the cathedral, you can pass through the Alcaicería, an ancient souk where silk fabrics were sold in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, we were charmed by the architecture of the streets and buildings. We recommend going there at night, when the stores are closed. There are so many reasons to choose the downtown area—between the historic district and Realejo—as the place to settle in!

Staying at the Alhambra
You won’t be able to miss the Alhambra. Perched on a hill, this palatial complex stands out against the backdrop of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains. Did you know you can stay there overnight? This promises a stay in a historic setting surrounded by 2,200 meters of ramparts and several palaces. The Nazrid Palaces, dating from the 13th century, are the most famous. Sleeping in the heart of this building, a major monument to 13th-century Moorish architecture, is a truly unique experience! Not far from there, you can visit the Alcazaba, an 11th-century fortress. You’ll also see the 16th-century palace of Charles V. It houses the Museum of Fine Arts and the Alhambra Museum. While all these buildings are well worth a visit, our favorite is the Generalife. Located just before the exit, this summer palace features magnificent gardens!

Staying near the Rio Darro (Albaicin district)
Did you know that the Albaicín neighborhood is one of the most iconic and traditional neighborhoods in Granada? It’s central enough to explore the city, and we loved the whitewashed houses, the narrow alleys, and the Moorish architectural style. A change of scenery is guaranteed—a real treat for your eyes! We immersed ourselves in this part of the city, which reminded us of the atmosphere of an ancient medina. The proximity to the Darro River is also a plus for enjoying some truly beautiful views!
Benefits:

- Beautiful river views
- Emblematic Moorish architecture with typical homes
- Several vestiges of the Moorish period (Arab baths, Dar Al-Horra Palace)

Other useful tips to keep in mind
- Andalucia is a popular destination. Although the peak season is spring and summer, the temperate Mediterranean climate is ideal for year-round visits. A destination with year-round sunshine and very few rainy days means crowds, and therefore anticipation! Remember to book your accommodation as early as possible, as Granada is a popular city.
- This is particularly true during Holy Week (the week of religious processions through the city leading up to Easter) and the International Festival of Young Filmmakers in April (see here). During these world-famous festivities, prices soar and crowds are huge.
- Please note that the criteria for awarding stars to hotels vary from country to country. Most tourist accommodation is in traditional buildings. Pools are therefore generally on the roof and are more for cooling off than for swimming.
- Within the city, you can use public transport to get around if you don’t want to drive into town. In fact, the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus offers a circuit that serves many of Granada’s tourist districts. Remember to reserve your ticket in advance. You can also rent a car if you want to explore the city and surrounding area on your own.

1. Boutique Hotel Luna Granada Centro (4 stars)
Why stay there?
One of our favorite highlights of the trip is undoubtedly the Boutique Hotel Luna Granada Centro, an oasis of modernity in the heart of Granada. We were charmed by the relaxed and warm atmosphere of the place. The contemporary decor, with its pastel colors and rounded shapes, added a sense of softness to the atmosphere and a touch of calm. In our room, we noticed the decorative details and the care taken to make guests feel welcome, such as the pink tiles and the geometric wall sconces. Small bags of caramelized almonds were neatly arranged on the desk along with a charming welcome note. What a little haven of peace! Breakfast was also a treat. What better way to start the day off right than with a hearty buffet featuring delicacies like salmon guacamole or the day’s fresh pastries—not to mention the à la carte dishes included?
Then head up to the rooftop for a dip in the small outdoor pool. It isn’t deep or wide enough to swim in, but it’s a pleasant place to take a dip, and the view of the city’s rooftops is lovely! The hotel’s central location made it easy for us to explore Granada, and the attentive staff was a great help as we explored the city. We highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a modern and welcoming experience in this beautiful city of Andalucia.

2. Hotel Corrala del Realejo (5 stars)
Why stay there?
Another place to stay that we particularly liked: the Hotel Corrala del Realejo. At this 5-star hotel, the overall atmosphere is rustic and rococo, which added to the charm of our stay! Being able to enjoy the space of an apartment while also benefiting from hotel-style service is a real perk! Our apartment was spacious and had a fully equipped, modern kitchen with an oven, microwave, stovetop, colander, pots and pans, dishes, and a coffee maker. Each accommodation has a name; ours was called “Fortuny,” in honor of the painter from Granada, Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo. From the window, the view of the Sierra Nevada enchanted us. In our opinion, that was one of the highlights of our place. Please note that the outdoor pool, although smaller and unheated (hot tub-style), can be reserved for private use. A special moment of relaxation!
The staff went out of their way to take care of us; we appreciated the little touches that made all the difference, such as the bottle of sparkling white wine and the complimentary cookies. However, the service could be more dynamic and upscale, given the hotel’s high standards. At breakfast, we enjoyed delicious homemade treats: carrot cake, orange brioche, pastries, and local cold cuts delighted our taste buds first thing in the morning. The restaurant on the ground floor lets you enjoy a delicious meal in a charming, rustic setting.

Part of the Small Luxury Hotels collection in Granada, this 5-star hotel guarantees you first-class amenities right in the heart of the city, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral. We enjoyed the hotel’s contemporary and elegant decor, combined with touches from Andalucia. Indulge in a gourmet meal at the restaurant, take in the panoramic view from the rooftop of the Alhambra and the surrounding historic neighborhoods, and treat yourself to a relaxing moment at the spa. It’s also a great place to stay, close to all the must-see attractions. What more could you ask for a successful vacation?

Would you like to stay in one of Granada’s iconic hotels? Opened in 1905—more than a century ago—the Alhambra Palace is a place whose walls are steeped in history. We loved its style, inspired by the Nasrid architecture of the Alhambra Palace, located next to the 5-star hotel. You’ll spend an unforgettable night surrounded by forest and just a 15-minute walk from the central Realejo district. With its refined décor and rich heritage—blending a Belle Époque atmosphere with Moorish style—you won’t regret choosing this enchanting venue, where the interior sparkles like a thousand stars. Take the time to admire the moldings, chandeliers, domes, ceramic tiles, and massive carved doors. We fell in love with the zellige mosaics that adorn the walls and floors in the hotel’s common areas, as well as in the guest rooms and bathrooms. The spaces have been renovated to combine modernity, practicality and refinement, always in a top-of-the-range Moorish style. A true Andalusian symbol of Granada, you’ll also love the romantic setting this exceptional place has to offer.

Did you know that this iconic landmark is housed in the former headquarters of the Rodriguez-Acosta Bank, built in the early 20th century? Step inside this 5-star hotel and let yourself be swept away by the magic of Granada. We were captivated by the carved wooden ceilings, the numerous frescoes, the Art Nouveau ornamentation, and the architectural details of this iconic building. Located across from Granada Cathedral and near the famous Alhambra, you’ll be in an ideal spot to explore the city and its treasures. Take a stroll on the rooftop to enjoy the view, or relax at the wellness center to round out this wonderful experience that combines luxury, design, and history. The fitness center, equipped with modern machines, is also open daily if you’d like to get some exercise and stay in shape during your vacation.

The recently renovated Hotel Barcelo Carmen Granada is also a good choice for accommodation in Granada. Just a 15-minute drive from the historic Alhambra, this 4-star establishment appealed to us for the modernity of its bright rooms, which is also reflected in the common areas. The clean, light-toned decor adds elegance and sobriety to the setting. In your bedroom, you’ll enjoy quality bedding for a good night’s sleep.
The rooftop welcomes you with its charming swimming pool and open-air bar. The perfect place to contemplate the exceptional view of Granada, the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Soak up the sun in a deckchair or under a parasol. Life is beautiful!

Just a short distance from this elegant 4-star hotel, you’ll also find the Royal Chapel of Granada, Spain’s largest funerary chapel, which houses the mausoleum of the Catholic Monarchs. So you’ve chosen the right neighborhood, with plenty of points of interest to visit. Modern and comfortable, the rooms are tastefully decorated in a minimalist style with a few pops of color that add character to the spaces. From a breakfast buffet featuring local flavors to a fitness center and a sunny communal terrace, you’ll see for yourself—just as we have—that this hotel has a lot to offer!

Why stay there?
Choose a hotel with a quintessentially Andalucian atmosphere at the Shine Albaycin Hotel in the Albaycin neighborhood. In the steep, quaint alleyways of this part of town, immerse yourself in the Moorish architecture and step through the grand wooden gate of this charming hotel. There, you’ll discover its charming traditional patio. In the rooms, decorated in shades of beige and featuring natural materials such as oak, we loved the large windows overlooking the ramparts of the Generalife and the Alhambra. You’ll also be a 15-minute walk from the Basilica of San Juan de Dios. The staff is attentive and ready to guide and assist you during your stay. As you walk past the hotel, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see that some rooms overlook the Darro River and a small stone bridge—a tributary of the Guadalquivir River. This 3-star hotel is set in a very picturesque setting, where quality goes hand in hand with affordable prices.

Head to the guest rooms, where traditional Andalusian charm blends perfectly with modern amenities. At this dreamy hotel, take a seat at the restaurant serving traditional regional cuisine. Located in the heart of the Alhambra, with views of the gardens and the terrace overlooking the Generalife, it is one of the city’s most popular restaurants. Finally, relax on the traditional patio facing the fountain while sipping a cold drink after a long day of sightseeing.

10. Aparthotel Suites Casas de las Columnas
Why stay there?
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Suites Casas de las Columnas. It’s an affordable and well-located option if you’re looking for the convenience of an aparthotel in a traditional setting on a tight budget. With no staff on site, we checked in on our own at this charming hotel; the staff can be reached on WhatsApp and are quite responsive. The traditional decor and rustic rooms made for a truly authentic experience at this very well-located aparthotel. The kitchen in our suite was equipped with a kettle, a coffee maker, a microwave, a refrigerator, a stovetop, as well as pots, pans, and dishes. From our room, we really enjoyed the view of the city’s rooftops. If you’re a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs, as the soundproofing is poor. Make yourself comfortable on the small terrace with a garden, which really adds to the charm of the place.
