Yes, the Hotel Palacio de Hemingway is a characterful address worth visiting for its excellent location, close to Ronda’s various attractions.
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the warm atmosphere of this small hotel, its flower-filled, colorful patio and the attentive welcome from the staff. Last but not least, our bright room had a superb view of the valley. To make matters worse, the à la carte breakfast served on the terrace was copious and excellent.

Decoration and atmosphere
The Hotel Palacio de Hemingway in Ronda offers a cosy atmosphere and Andalusian-style decor, imbued with old-fashioned charm. You’ll be greeted by warm, friendly, smiling, multilingual staff. They will be happy to give you advice to make your stay unforgettable.
The room
Our room was bright and cosy, with a mix of rustic elements (dark wood headboard and bedside tables, sandstone-effect tiled floor) and more refined elements such as the gilded bedside lamps, Berber-style carpet, romantic-style painting and large mirror, adding an old-fashioned charm to the room.
We also found several practical amenities in the room, such as a safe, a large dressing room, a small but comfortable double bed with pillows bearing the hotel’s name, a mini-bar with soft drinks and a mini-bottle of champagne, a coffee machine and a kettle with tea and coffee-making facilities.

We particularly liked the brightness of the room and the beautiful view of the city and surrounding mountains from the small balcony. Please note, however, that if you are sensitive to light and noise, we advise you to request a room overlooking the courtyard.
The bathroom
The bathroom in our room, equipped with a shower, had a vintage feel with its blue and white tiles, antique gold faucets, towels bearing the hotel’s name and various gold brass finishes. There was also an occasional stool, a magnifying mirror, a hairdryer and a few toiletries. We particularly liked the brightness of this room.
The breakfast
Breakfast at the Hotel Palacio de Hemingway is offered “à la carte”. Here you can sample local produce (charcuterie, cheeses, fruit) and savour ready-made dishes. We particularly like our eggs Benedict with bacon sauce, but you can also opt for Spanish specialties like pan con tomato. You can also enjoy breakfast indoors or on a pleasant outdoor terrace surrounded by plants, with a breathtaking view of the city.
Equipment and common areas
The Hotel Palacio de Hemingway in Ronda has a very pleasant lobby where you can relax in club armchairs, admiring the pretty Persian carpet, the bouquets of flowers or the perspective of the superb 3-storey Andalusian patio. The Andalucia immersion continues upstairs, with colorful azulejos, delicate marquetry and garlands of light giving the room a hushed atmosphere.
The restoration
The hotel has an indoor breakfast room, as well as a magnificent terrace if you prefer to enjoy your first morning coffee in the sun. The hotel also boasts a restaurant-bar called Pura Cepa, which offers an attractive menu of typical tapas (hot and cold), as well as an incredible variety of gins and a selection of local wines.
History
The Hotel Palacio de Hemingway in Ronda is located in the former home of poet Pedro Pérez, opposite the Ronda a los Viajeros Romanticosmural. This tiled work celebrates the famous travelers who came to Ronda, including Ernest Hemingway. This famous American author (1899-1961) stayed in Ronda on several occasions and praised the city in his works, helping to shape the city’s international reputation.
The Hotel Palacio de Hemingway pays homage to Hemingway by offering some of his works for consultation, in various languages. A little thoughtfulness that pleased us!

The nearest airport to Ronda is Malaga (1h30 drive), served by numerous airlines. To get to the hotel, you can opt for..:
- By car: even though Ronda is located in the Ronda mountains, the journey is not difficult. You can easily get there by car, which is ideal if you’re planning to visit several white villages.
- Train: 2 hours from Malaga with a connecting train, for example. See the official Renfe website here. From the station, it’s a 17-minute walk to the hotel.
- Bus: a very good bus network links Ronda to the major cities of Andalucia (Sevilla in 2h, Cordoba in 2h or Malaga in 1h45). Check the timetable on the official website here.
