Is Playa del Zapillo worth it?
Yes, it’s a pleasant and popular beach. Located in the heart of Almería’s seafront, it attracts families as well as those who just want to enjoy its pleasant waterfront. This is one of the best beaches to discover in Almería!

Beach type: sandy, supervised…
Sand type
The sand at Playa del Zapillo is dark grey, typical of the Almería coast.
It’s fine enough to walk on or put your towel down.
Nevertheless, we deplore the lack of cleanliness on the beach.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Playa del Zapillo is supervised in summer. The water entry is gentle, making it suitable for families with children. However, depending on the wind, there may be small waves. The water generally remains clean and clear.

Installations
The beach offers a wide range of facilities, including public toilets, outdoor showers and deckchair and parasol hire. A number of bars and restaurants line the paseo maritime.

Where to find La Playa del Zapillo
- In the city of Almería, in the Zapillo district
- From Almería airport: approx. 15min by car
- From Almería station: about 20min by bus
Access by car and parking
Playa del Zapillo is easily reached by car. Free parking is available along the paseo maritime, but is often taken up in summer. Pay parking lots are available further into the city center.

Access from the parking lot
From the parking lots along the seafront, access to the beach is direct. You don’t have to walk far to reach the sand. Parking for bikes and scooters is also available.

Public transport access
Playa del Zapillo can be reached by bus from Almería city center. Lines 11 and 12 serve Paseo Marítimo Carmen de Burgos, with several stops along the beach.
The nearest stop is Paseo Maritime AI.
Useful information
Dog
Pets are not allowed on this beach in high season.
Reduced mobility access
Playa del Zapillo has access ramps and wooden walkways for people with reduced mobility.
With children
If there aren’t any special play areas for children, the large expanse of sand will give them plenty to play with. The beach is also safe with a first-aid post, which is reassuring for the little ones. Finally, the paseo maritime is perfect for strollers.

Naturism
Naturism is not permitted on Playa del Zapillo.
Eating out
Numerous chiringuitos and restaurants can be found right on the beach and along the “paseo”, the seafront promenade. You can also shop at the supermarket next to the beach for an impromptu picnic.
Hotels
There are a few hotels along Almeria’s beaches, but for greater flexibility and simplicity, we decided to rent an apartment. We loved our experience atEl Rincon de Huete.
