We were seduced by the charm of this town almost entirely surrounded by the sea, with its magnificent urban beaches and picturesque historic center. Cádiz has an authentic, less touristy atmosphere than some of Andalucia’s better-known cities.

Other destinations in Andalucia

If you haven’t found what you’re looking for, here are some other destinations and why we love them too.

Marbella

Marbella is the glamorous destination of the Costa del Sol. We really enjoyed the contrast between the authentic old town with its cobbled streets and flower-filled squares, and the modern seafront with its beach clubs and Puerto Banús marina. This duality makes it a unique destination where you can stroll through a traditional Andalusian village in the morning and sip a cocktail in front of luxury yachts in the afternoon. The beaches are magnificent and the nightlife lively. It offers privileged access to the white villages of the Sierra de las Nieves.

The Royal School of Equestrian Art offers exceptional equestrian shows. It’s a perfect base from which to discover the depths of Andalucia and the surrounding white villages.

It’s the perfect retreat for those seeking the tranquility and unspoilt natural beauty of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.

Tarifa

Tarifa beach

Tarifa is the southernmost town in continental Europe, facing Maroc. This destination won us over with its mix of cultures, immense wind-beaten beaches and bohemian ambience. We particularly liked the sunsets, the relaxed beach bars and the possibility of taking a day trip to Tangier.

Guadix

Troglodyte houses in Guadix

Guadix offers a unique Andalucia experience with its inhabited troglodyte houses. This historic town fascinated us with its rock-cut cave district, where families still live today.
